Ever seen a wombat in the wild? 😍 Meet one of Canberra’s most loveable locals, with short legs, a big heart and a walk that’s pure main-character energy! You can often spot them at Tidbinbilla, Namadgi or Mulligans Flat, especially around dusk. This big boy was spotted along the London Bridge Arch walk, a stunning trail on Ngunnawal Country. 🤩 🎥: IG/@wombat_rescue 💚 Remember, wombats are wild animals. Please keep your distance and never feed or approach them. ACT Government ACT Parks and Con

Here's Puddy, our magnificent giant wombat! 🌿🐾 At our sanctuary, we're privileged to care for this gentle soul, who's captured the hearts of all who meet him. Puddy's impressive size is due to genetics and he is the biggest wombat we have ever seen. He was raised at the sanctuary since a tiny orphan almost 17 years ago. We call him our BFG - big friendly giant. Puddy is getting ready for his annual check up and dental ♥️ #PuddyTheWombat #WildlifeWonder #NatureLover #WombatAdventures | Wombat A

Have you ever seen a wombat in the wild? In rural Queensland there is one breed so rare it’s only found in two locations. It’s called the Northern Hairy Nosed Wombat and there are only 315 of them left. Find out more about what’s being done to save them ➡️ https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-08-28/high-tech-radars-map-northern-hairy-nosed-wombat-burrows/102760896 | ABC Southern Queensland

So our biggest and oldest wombat on the farm, Stormy ⛈️🐻, has been out on tour for the last few weeks. She’s a big female who’s now ready to head back into the wild. Stormy has rewilded beautifully — to the point where if you approach her, she bolts straight down her burrow. She’s barely been spotted in the last two months, which is exactly the outcome we want. That’s the dream, legends. ❤️ The only reason she hasn’t gone back to the bush yet is because she’s always been paired with Gypsy, anot

Trying again as Facebook decided this was violent or graphic which it’s NOT. It’s our first cattle grid rescue and was very challenging. The cattle grid isn’t standard width which is why he fell in and he is one of the biggest wombats Ive seen. Lifting 40 kg of weight in such an awkward space is really hard Luckily one of the spars was loose on one end so we could use a crowbar to move it further and widen the gap to pull him out The amazing landowners on either side, Lyndall and Paul, were fant

Happy #WombatWednesday from all the wombats in our care. Little miss Molly is just over 250g today. She has stabilised for now and is doing well Louis and Laila are doing really well in Brooke’s care in the large enclosure. They love their burrows. I think we’re on a winning recipe with how to build manmade burrows that they actually like (the secret is it has to be a L or T shape). Winnie has shown small improvements but is a big concern with nerve damage above the shoulder. If permanent her pr

If you’re ever sad, just remember the world is 4.543 billion years old and you somehow managed to exist at the same time as wombats. ❤️ Fun fact: 'modern' wombats have existed for nearly 20,000 years, but their relatives have been around far longer. Scientists have found 25-million-year-old fossil evidence of a giant wombat relative, Mukupirna nambensis. 📹 | brindabella_the_wombat on Instagram #WombatWednesday | CSIRO
