Mark Donohue – Talladega Speed Record – Porsche 917‑30 On August 9, 1975, Mark Donohue set a closed‑course speed record at Talladega Superspeedway, driving a fearsome Porsche 917‑30. He averaged 221.160 mph over the circuit, hitting 241 mph at the end of the straights. The record stood for only four years, but it remains the fastest lap ever recorded at Talladega.
