I know the B-24 Liberator first flew on December 29, 1939, but I couldn’t wait that long to start the celebration. Today’s Video from the Vault takes us to the early days of WWII, when the Grumman Wildcat made its mark during the defense of Wake Island. Despite being heavily outnumbered, the Marine aviators flying these Wildcats put up one of the most spirited defenses of the entire war.
