Oct 24, 2016 · I have never actually seen a VESA mount Mac in person, but I believe the opening in the back of the cabinet is different than that for a Mac with a conventional stand. Below is a link to a system that will wall mount a conventional mount so you can have your cake and eat it too. There are others out there that are similar.

Aug 28, 2015 · Working one day, looking at my 27" iMac, when 'snap'!, and the angle of the screen went flat. Turns out something (?) broke where the stand attaches to the computer, something internal as it's not obvious. Where you could formerly adjust the angle of the screen in the normal way, now the screen just wants to frown, facing downward.

There was a chronic issue with some years ago with only the 27" iMac displays where a plastic part in the spring assembly that held the monitor in position would break causing the monitor to suddenly drop all the way forward. Then I put the whole thing on top of a box (basically the same idea as your drive case). You can probably find an old CRT display stand/riser.
