Who Did It Better? Ludwig Vs. Slingerland | [DFO] Drum Forum
Aug 5, 2005 · Triple flange hoops were a Ludwig invention, adding the extra outward flange at the top to save on stick wear. Slingerland copied the idea but turned their flange inward to differentiate their hoop from others. The Slingerland hoops also have a neat rounded ear for the tension rods which fits in with the more organic look of their hoops.
'70s Slingerlands - [DFO] Drum Forum
Jul 28, 2023 · The one Slingerland setup that would tempt me would be 13/16/20 in blue satin flame with a ribbed aluminum snare like we had for middle school jazz band. It was in rough shape then (90’s) but it was one of the first kits I played and learned to tune on so a similar setup has some appeal
Slingerand Nashville era Buddy Rich Legend Set - [DFO] Drum Forum
Jul 6, 2017 · I'm new to the forum and I have a question regarding an offer for a Slingerland Nashville era Buddy Rich Legends drum set built in around 1998 when Sam Bacco and Pat Foley where building the Slingerland Drums in the Nashville shop. It's a 5 piece set with the original " Buddy Rich " heads and comes with all the hardware.
Slingerland Yellow Jacket bass pedal | [DFO] Drum Forum
Dec 15, 2008 · Problably the best pedal Slingerland ever made IMHO.As stated previously - very fast, simple pedal with a direct linkage.I really liked the Yellow ones as their look was so different for these times.Slingerland was making some really interesting things during these days. They had the 2 to 1 snare drum, the TDR strainer and they had the new Super SetOMatic double tom …
Slingerland 1965 Kit Questions | [DFO] Drum Forum
Nov 4, 2010 · Slingerland Toms did not in 65, just snares and bass drums. I pulled the heads off and the shells are beautiful maple with wonderful, smooth rounded edges. All drums are date stamped within a week of each-other, so it seems like a factory kit.

Slingerlands 60's 6 Lug Snare - [DFO] Drum Forum
Nov 13, 2015 · Slingerland's Deluxe Student snare drums are great! Here are my 4 Slingerland snares (Sparkling Red, Sparkling Silver, Sparkling Blue and WMP) plus a 1965 Leedy Frank Cap snare drum in Green Satin Flame. All the other companies called it Aqua Satin Flame. Slingerland loved to be different!
Praise for Slingerland COB snares | [DFO] Drum Forum
Aug 5, 2005 · Recently had the urge for a Slingerland 6.5 x 14" COB. I was using a Ludwig 402 which I loved, but I thought that my Slingerland set would look cooler with a Slingerland snare. I preferred one with the TDR. I also wanted one in excellent condition for a cheap price. I knew if I waited I would find a good one as they are not all that rare.
Slingerland Modern Jazz Outfit? | [DFO] Drum Forum
May 20, 2009 · For a Slingerland HH stand I'd go with the model 806 Dynamo, but again I much prefer the Ludwig. The Slingerland Buddy Rich model cymbal stands are cool looking, particularly the early ones with the small tripod. They can be somewhat expensive to buy though and the tilter is a bit of a weak link on any Slingerland cymbal stand.
1967(?) Slingerland | [DFO] Drum Forum
Nov 30, 2009 · Slingerland operated both Niles and Shelbyville simultaneously during '65 - '66. Shelbyville drums had a maroon/brass badge vs. black/brass from Niles. I've always been very pleased with the sound I get from 60's Slingys using Aquarian vintage-series or medium weight texture coated batter heads along with clear resonants.
