Oct 15, 2020 · If you look on Google maps, you can find what looks like individual row housing scattered here and there in the outer edges of the city; it seems pretty similar to a lot of old, large cities in the sense that it's way denser and less car-focused than the US.

They have big, fairly modern cities, medium-sized cities, quaint resort towns, run-down rural villages, etc. There’s no single, unified “look” any more than there is in any other place in the world. Depending on where you’re from, some of these places might look very familiar to you.

The important cities of North Korea have self-governing status equivalent to that of provinces. Pyongyang, the largest city and capital, is classified as a chikhalsi (capital city), while three cities (see the list below) are classified as t'ŭkpyŏlsi (special city).
