Jan 6, 2010 · Yes the roll cage you describe would certainly be a better setup. I'd guess it would really stiffen up the chassis. That being said, I've got an 8.50 cert cage in my 71 Nova that is just plated to the floor pan with 6"x6" plates per NHRA rules and it works just fine.
