Filmmaker Karan Johar sold 50 per cent of Dharma Productions to Adar Poonawalla's Serene Productions for Rs 1,000 crore. In his recent interview, Karan revealed the reason behind his crucial decision.

The Rs 1,000 crore stake in Dharma is viewed as a high-multiple investment, but analysts suggest that if one film hits big, it could significantly boost Dharma’s trajectory.

I didn’t know I had a value. I found out. I’m probably not going to come across as clever, but I want to come across as who I am. I was traumatised in so many of those meetings,” Karan Johar candidly admitted.

Johar explained that the primary reason behind the partnership was to take Dharma to the next level, where they could fund their own projects without outside support. He said that he wants to ‘chase’ the mid-budget films because that’s where the bigger profits lie.
