The four-term councilman suffered second- and third-degree burns covering up to 60% of his body, mostly on his torso, after alleged assailant Shotsie Michale Buck Hayes barged into Vogler’s workplace, drenched him with a five-gallon jug of fuel, chased him outside and then torched him.

A man named Shotsie Michael Buck Hayes attacked and poured gasoline on Danville City Councilman Lee Vogler before setting him on fire, according to Virginia police.

Danville's independent councilman Lee Vogler was doused in gasoline and set on fire at work. He has been airlifted to the hospital after the attack.
