Poking around a cramped, dark cave full of long-limbed arachnids is not many people's idea of a good time, but apparently, enough New Zealanders were so inclined to disturb the spiders.
This species is just one of dozens found inside the Mammoth Cave. The NPS said that "at least 70 species of ancient fish" have been identified in the 350-million-year-old cave system.
The Tooth Cave spider This is real, we promise. Tooth Cave spiders are found only in the limestone caves around Austin. They are white-ish and tiny, clocking in at about 1.6 millimeters.
