It’s a sign that some of the world’s most systemically important lenders are sitting on more than enough capital.

Wall Street’s largest lenders boosted their dividends after passing this year’s Federal Reserve stress tests, a hurdle that regulators made easier to clear by softening some of the requirements laid out in previous years.

Other dividend increases include Bank of America raising its payout by 8 percent to 28 cents per share, Wells Fargo lifting its dividend to 45 cents from 40 cents, Goldman Sachs raising its dividend from US$3 to US$4, and Citigroup increasing its payout to 60 cents from 56 cents.
