The Philadelphia Flyers were open to lots of things ahead of the NHL Draft, but, ultimately, a bold New York Islanders trade offer wasn't enough to pull them away from selecting Porter Martone with the sixth overall pick.

Experts say they like the Flyers’ No. 6 pick as Martone was the best player available, but some question marks were raised after they traded up from No. 22 and No. 31 to take Nesbitt at No. 12.

GM Daniel Briere was aggressive in the first round of the 2025 NHL Draft Friday night, moving up to No. 12 and grabbing center Jack Nesbitt.
