The New York Mets will need to look for a new starting pitcher following Griffin Canning's crushing Achilles injury.

Canning suffered the ailment when, after surrendering a batted ball to Atlanta shortstop Nick Allen, he attempted to change directions on the mound so that he could back up third base. He subsequently went down before being aided off the field by the Mets training staff.

New York Mets pitcher Griffin Canning had surgery on to repair a ruptured left Achilles tendon and will miss the remainder of the season and possibly part of the 2026 season.
