The state police officer whose body camera footage was deleted from the scene of a boat crash that killed a 17-year-old girl said he considered it “just another boating accident” and thus didn’t take steps to preserve the video for a criminal investigation, according to newly filed court records.
Coroner Robert Byrd identified the three family members as David Waller and Diane Waller of Istachatta, Fla., and their daughter, Carrie Stone of Inverness, Fla. He said he could not confirm their ages. The family was driving on County Road 95 and crossed two lanes of traffic across U.S. 84 in Gordon, Ala., near the Georgia line.

The St. Tammany Coroner's Office has identified a Florida man as the pedestrian killed in a deadly crash on the Twin Span. The man was identified as Errol Douglas Cain, 61, of Tallahassee, Florida. Miami-Dade jurors reached a verdict for Jose Hernandez on Thursday, according to court records.

The crash happened April 26 in front of the Bowlero on South Florida Avenue. The man died two days later at the hospital.
