Banking giant Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. (MUFG) is planning to launch a new bank specializing in online banking by the end of fiscal 2026 to attract new customers, particularly young people.

MUFG Bank offered both an apology and explanation during a Dec. 16 news conference regarding the discovery in November that a supervisor had stolen customer assets from safe deposit boxes.
