Alphonso Davies's agent says the Canada captain was pressured to start against the U.S. on the weekend in a game that saw him go down with a knee injury that required surgery.

Soccer Canada has dismissed allegations from Alphonso Davies' agent that they let the team captain play in a Nations League match despite not being fully fit. Davies' club Bayern Munich said on Wednesday that left back Davies suffered a cruciate knee ligament tear in Canada's weekend match against the United States which required surgery and that he would be sidelined for several months.
