Amazon's new Vulcan fulfillment center robot doesn't look humanoid but it has some very human characteristics, like the ability to "feel" the items it's handling. Amazon introduced Vulcan at its Delivering the Future event in Germany on May 7.

Vulcan, a robot with tactile senses, is a step toward automating more of picking and stowing work done by humans inside Amazon’s fulfillment centers.

During Amazon ’s Delivering the Future event in Dortmund, Germany, this week, the company introduced Vulcan, its first robot with a sense of touch — the ability to understand when and how it makes contact with an object, using key advances in engineering and physical AI.
