The Shalimar Express, traveling from Lahore to Karachi, derailed near Shahdara area of Punjab's Lahore disctrict on Thursday, causing three of its coaches to go off track. The derailment, which took place near Barkat Town, narrowly avoided a major catastrophe, a local news channel reported.

As per the details, the railway officials said that engineering department teams reached the site of the incident and relief operations are being conducted.

According to sources, three bogies of the Shalimar express were derailed from the track while one was derailed from the bridge, resulting in closure of the pick and down track and affecting the schedule of Faisalabad-bound trains from Lahore.

Karachi: Three bogies of the Shalimar Express train derailed near the city of Sheikhupura, while en route to Karachi from Lahore, offcials said on Friday. No casualties have been reported in the incident.
