About five decades after Harold Loew’s Marine Corps uniform was lost, the 87-year-old WWII veteran has been reunited with a piece of his past.
When he’s not working his regular day job as an electrician in Pacific, Mo., 26-year-old Austin Wideman collects World War II memorabilia, specifically items connected to the 4th Marine Division.
A Marine Corps uniform from World War II is presented at an event to mark the service’s 246th birthday at Marine Corps Air Station Iwakuni, Japan, Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2021.
Military uniforms issued during this period featured from the top: a forage cap fore-and-aft and worn inclined to one side of the head (RAF) or a beret (Army).
