(WHTM) — Tonight’s Hometown Heroes are providing a proper way to retire old flags. The Manheim Township Police Department in Lancaster County held its third flag retirement service on Monday.

Displaying a flag in front of one’s business is a symbol of patriotism. But when a flag is tattered or frayed, that display takes on a reverse effect. The intended sign of pride in nation is lost.
