A battery manufacturer has selected Kentucky for a nearly $712 million project to produce industrial-sized batteries used to store and distribute energy.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A state-of-the-art battery plant is planned for Shelbyville, marking Shelby County's largest economic development project. State and local dignitaries, including Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, unveiled the project at a news conference Friday morning.

The Shelbyville project is the third-largest jobs announcement Andy Beshear has made during his time as governor. It’s expected to cost $712 million to build.
