The U.S. Coast Guard previously told Newsweek that its missions in the western Pacific aim to strengthen maritime governance.

The map, based on ship-tracking data from MarineTraffic and Global Fishing Watch, shows the ship departed from the port of Sanya in China's Hainan province on December 30.

China's Agriculture Ministry last updated its fishing moratorium regulations in 2023, placing a ban on fishing in the Bohai Sea and parts of the Yellow Sea from May 1 to September 1 each year.
