The Korean Film Commission has published its findings after analyzing commercial films that were released in 2017 and found a lack of female representation on and behind the screens of Korean films.

“Real,” released in 2017, starred Kim Soo-hyun and Sulli. The film featured several high-intensity scenes, including nudity.

The best South Korean thrillers are also often the most unsettling films, from Parasite to Memories of Murder.

Looks like the Oscars can’t handle South Korea’s erotic thrillers, creepy horrors, and zombie flicks.
