An Israeli airstrike has killed at least 12 Lebanese rescue workers inside a civil defense center in the eastern city of Baalbek.

An AP journalist at the scene in Mazzeh said a five-story building was damaged by a missile that hit the basement.

Fifteen people were killed and 16 others injured in Israeli strikes on Damascus in Syria, state media SANA said, citing a military source and marking one of the deadliest strikes in months to hit the Sryian capital.
