A Los Angeles resident is suing the director of the Los Angeles Zoo over its plans to transfer Asian elephants Billy and Tina to another zoo in Tulsa instead of an animal sanctuary, lawyers announced Sunday.

Billy and Tina, the last two Asian elephants at the Los Angeles Zoo, were set to be moved to a new location at the Tulsa Zoo, but there is pushback from protesters and critics online alleging “They will suffer in an inhumane environment.
