Some residents in Warwick, Orange County are being asked to evacuate due to the Jennings Creek wildfire. According to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, winds caused the fire to escape containment Saturday evening near Edgemere Avenue.

The firefighters are encountering rough terrain while battling the wildfire that has burned more than seven square miles across New York and New Jersey, a Suffolk fire official said.

Some residents in the town of Warwick were asked to evacuate Saturday evening after the Jennings Creek Wildfire jumped a firebreak near Greenwood Lake and Wah-Ta-Wah Park. The village of Greenwood Lake issued a voluntary evacuation order at 8:30 p.
