NEW YORK – Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong and left fielder Seiya Suzuki sped toward the Citi Field wall, chasing down a sharp fly ball hit between them by the Mets’ Luis Torrens. Crow-Armstrong got there first, jumping into the padding and missing the ball by inches.

Francisco Lindor led off with the first of New York’s four solo homers and the Mets rolled to a 7-2 victory over the Chicago Cubs on Friday night in the opener of a three-game series. Brett Baty and Jeff McNeil went deep in the second while Juan Soto homered in the fourth to help the Mets improve to 14-3 at Citi Field.

The Mets had multiple opportunities to win, but failed in those clutch situations in their 6-5 loss to the Cubs on Saturday night at Citi Field.
