Jet2 confirmed a late booking trend for summer holidays and highlighted cost concerns as it warned that future profit margins may come under pressure. The UK’s largest tour operating group raised profit projections by up to 10% to between £560-£570 million for the year to March but warned of “cost headwinds” in the year ahead.
Jet2 Warns on Profit Amid Late-Booking Trend
Jet2 said it expects an 8% to 10% increase in profit before foreign-exchange revaluation and taxation for the year ending March 31 of between 560 million and 570 million pounds ($706.4 million-$719 million). The company had previously guided for a figure ahead of market expectations of 541 million pounds.
Jet2 warns later bookings and higher costs pressuring profit margins
Jet2 also warned that it faces cost increases ahead of headline UK consumer price index inflation. These include higher wage and National Insurance costs following changes made in the recent UK government budget. It also faces higher costs for hotel accommodation, aircraft maintenance, and general airport and air traffic control charges.
