Steve Yzerman spent the last weekend in June tending to the Detroit Red Wings' future — and their present. Before the Wings had made any selections on Day 2 of the 2025 NHL Draft, Yzerman made a big trade, nabbing goaltender John Gibson from the Anaheim Ducks.

The Detroit Red Wings added eight prospects to the organization at the 2025 NHL Draft, selecting players that add to the pipeline at every position. 2024-25: Tied for seventh in the Western Hockey League with 40 goals in 56 games and led Everett with 82 points before a season-ending Achilles injury in March.
