Several international airlines have resumed flights to and from Indonesia's resort island of Bali, an official said on Thursday, after multiple eruptions of the Mount Lewotobi Laki-laki volcano belched ash up to 10 km (16 miles) into the air.

Several Australian airlines have canceled flights to and from the popular Indonesian vacation island of Bali after an erupting volcano gushed a column of hot ash miles into the sky.

"Due to volcanic ash caused by the Mount Lewotobi eruption in Indonesia, it is currently not safe to operate flights to and from Bali," the company said in an advisory. In response to CNA queries, a Singapore Airlines (SIA) spokesperson confirmed that two SIA flights were cancelled after the eruption of Mount Lewotobi Laki-Laki.
