US Open runner-up Taylor Fritz reached another big final at the ATP Finals by beating Alexander Zverev 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (3) on Saturday. Fritz became the first American finalist at the elite eight-man event since James Blake lost the 2006 final to Roger Federer.

Alexander Zverev is into the ATP Finals semifinals. Carlos Alcaraz has to wait. Zverev beat Alcaraz 7-6, 6-4 at the season-ending event for the top eight players in Turin on Friday.

Alexander Zverev surged into the semi-finals of the ATP Finals after eliminating French Open and Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz with a 7-6(5) 6-4 defeat, while Casper Ruud also advanced with a 6-4 5-7 6-2 win over Andrey Rublev on Friday.

Taylor Fritz, the U.S. Open finalist who lost to Sinner in New York, was also drawn in the Italian’s group alongside Australian Alex De Minaur, making his ATP Tour Finals debut; Casper Ruud and Andrey Rublev, who qualified as world No. 9 after Novak Djokovic withdrew, rounded out the second group.

Twice ATP Finals champion Alexander Zverev outclassed four-times major winner Carlos Alcaraz 7-6(5) 6-4 to progress to the semi-finals of the season-ending championship on Friday and leave the Spaniard on the brink of elimination.

The ATP Tour Finals in Turin, Italy have their semifinalists. After 12 matches, all but two of them straight-sets wins, Jannik Sinner will face Casper Ruud in one semifinal, with Alexander Zverev playing Taylor Fritz in the other.
