Hi SurrySun, this is a very common misconception in skydiving. When the parachute is deployed you do not shoot up, it appears like this because your camera man keeps falling, giving the allusion of you going up. You are still falling, just a lot slower. In regards to your medical question, Please call the team in the office so they can go over all the details with you, their number is 01722 568705. It may be something you are able to do but you will need to have a conversation with your GP and get them to sign off on the BPAs medical form, the ladies in the office will be able to send you this form directly.
