If you mean Hong Kong to Macau and back it would depend on how long you want to spend in Macau. The ferry takes one hour each way, and you could easily spend all day in Macau, so when I went I got a ferry around 9am and then returned from Macau on a 10pm ferry. Not sure what tour companies do as I did this on my own agenda.
