We had a bad experience up there a couple of years ago at a chain hotel. On our trip to Edsel Ford's, we stayed at the Dearborn Inn. It cost a little more, but it was worth it for a place you could trust and was top notch. It's a 20 minute drive to Edsel & Eleanor's, but it wasn't bad.
